How do you know the passage of time? The clock ticks, the sun sets, the first fallen leaves of autumn.
The square is designed to draw attention to the changes of time and seasons. The square is a 9X9m platform made of local Swedish stone and is a display board showing the shadow of an oak tree.
All of these stones are gray or brownish-yellow, not conspicuous, but organized in different shapes and patterns.
In the morning, the sun casts a shadow in the west, exposing the platform to sunlight. People noticed the pattern on it and wanted to know what it was. They looked carefully and found the texture of trees, gullies, hills and stones. In the evening the oak trees cast clear, thick shadows on the square. One notices the spot of light, the shape of the leaves, the branches. Day and night, while the real and unreal shadows of the tree cycle.
